About Us
We are a volunteer-run, Denver-based organization focused on practical economics. As the Denver chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE), we are part of a national network of professionals who leverage economics in the workplace. We are proud to be one of the most active chapters of NABE.

DABE’s objectives are to provide educational opportunities on economic issues, offer a forum for discussion of economic problems, and contribute to the success of our Denver-based membership.

We host monthly luncheons with remote and in-person options, networking opportunities, and an evening summer social event at unique Denver destinations (at no marginal cost for members).

Some of our past events:

  • Lessons on tax economics to understand Name, Image, Likeness rules in college sports with Dr. Donald Bruce.
  • An overview on assessing climate risk wtih Marca Hagenstad.
  • Luncheon event with Dr. Vipin Arora, Director of the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), presenting on data products available from the BEA.
  • Summer event featuring a tour of a marijuana grow operation and dispensary and presentations on the economic impact of the marijuana industry on the state of Colorado.

DABE Professional Code of Conduct
DABE is dedicated to providing a professional and harassment-free environment for everyone and an environment that promotes open and objective discussions about economic issues.

The DABE code of conduct prohibits harassment, discriminatory behavior, or any type of offensive behavior by anyone attending a DABE event, including in-person and virtual, formal and informal events. Registration for a DABE event implies agreement with the code.

DABE does not tolerate harassment or disrespectful behavior of any sort. This includes statements at meetings; interactions between attendees, moderators, and presenters; interactions among participants; and, in addition to speech, written material of any kind including messages and images.

Further, it is a violation of the code of conduct to retaliate in any manner against a person who reports or assists in investigating a complaint alleging harassment, discrimination, or other offensive behavior.

DABE board members may take action to stop unacceptable behavior, including instructing the offending person to desist or to leave an event. Other action may also be taken, including prohibiting participation in future DABE events.

Unacceptable behavior includes but is not limited to:

  • Speech and behavior, spoken or through other means, that is intimidating, pressuring, or bullying.
  • Speech or behavior that prejudicially treats individuals on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, disability status, physical appearance, professional position, or any other attribute.
  • Solicitation of emotional or physical intimacy despite expressions or indications that it is unwelcome.
  • Solicitation of emotional or physical intimacy accompanied by real or implied threat of personal or professional harm.
  • Other offensive behavior. For virtual events, this includes any improper aspect of a person’s video, audio, or chat presence.

Reporting
If you experience harassment or discriminatory behavior at a DABE event, we encourage you to report the incident to a DABE board member or to email dabe@dabedenver.org.
