DABE is excited to welcome Clive Crook, a columnist and head of the editorial board at Bloomberg Opinion. Mr. Crook will present a discussion of recent monetary and fiscal policy decisions and their influence on the macro economy.

Mr. Crook previously was the chief Washington commentator and associate editor of the Financial Times, a senior editor of The Atlantic, and an advisor to the chairman of Atlantic Media Company.

Before moving to the United States in 2005, he worked for more than 20 years at The Economist, as economics correspondent, Washington correspondent, economics editor, and finally for 10 years as deputy editor. He is the author of hundreds of articles, mostly unsigned (in the magazine's tradition of anonymity), including many of its most memorable and influential editorials.

He was educated at Oxford and the London School of Economics. After leaving university, he was an official in H.M. Treasury (working on monetary policy, and serving for a year as private secretary to the government's chief economic advisor) and the U.K. Government Economic Service. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, and as a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution.
